Downloading and Printing

Dog with laptopThe first thing to say is Downloading is really easy! ….and the great thing is you can then have 10 times as many prints, as if you order by mail, so it’s worth a few minutes to read this and understand ‘How to do it’.

  1. Put the items in your basket.
  2. Pay at the checkout as usual, taking care to enter your email address correctly.
  3. After payment you will be directed to a page with a Download link in big red letters. Click on the link.
  4. You will be asked whether to ‘Open’ or ‘Save’ the file. Choose ‘Save’ and choose a place on your computer to keep it. In a ‘La La’ folder perhaps?
  5. Do this for each item you purchased, and save to the same place. Continue until all the items you have bought are saved in your ‘La La’ folder.
  6. Some downloads are zip files and this means that they contain more than one PDF document. On the latest version of Windows XP or Windows Vista, double click on the zip file to open it like any other folder on your computer. You will see the separate PDF documents inside. Double click to open each document.
  7. When you want to open or print the file it will only open if you have a program called Adobe Reader (used to be called Acrobat Reader) on your computer. Most probably you will have, but if you are unsure check with the computer expert in your life!
  8. Open the file and you are ready to start printing.

In case you get into trouble, you will also receive an email with instructions and a link to a Download page. Click on this link will take you to a page where you can download the purchased products. There will be a big red letter Download link on this page as well.

Printing your file

  1. When you come to print the file remember to set your printer to the best print quality you have, I set mine to the photo setting and it really makes a difference.
  2. The card weights I use are 250-270gsm for cards and images, and 120gsm for envelopes and background papers. This is just a bit heavier than photocopy paper and makes a really nice envelope.
  3. Generally the smoother the card the better the print, but I print onto a textured card for our mail order items and this also gives a lovely print quality.
  4. With some printers, a heavier weight of card may not feed into the printer readily and may need to be held as it goes in, but 250-270gsm I find is not a problem.
  5. That’s all there is to it, happy printing and happy cardmaking!
