Cut out the envelope shape taking care to snip neatly into the corners, and not beyond them. This will be important when you are folding the envelope for a neat finish.

Before cutting out the template just take a moment to see where the dotted oblong is positioned relative to the envelope shape, it is exactly between all four corners. Then cut out the oblong template along the outside edge of the dotted lines, leaving the dots on. Don’t throw away the remaining bits, you will need these to see where to put glue on the B flap later.

Using the template to fold your envelope around will ensure your envelope ends up the correct size for the greetings card and not too small.

Place the template on the reverse of the envelope in the same position, and fold three of the edges up, starting with the two A’s and then B. (The two sides and the back). These are marked on your remaining parts of the template if you are unsure.

Leaving the template where it is, unfold B, (the back) and very carefully glue the area of the B flap marked grey, and stick B down over the A flaps. Just a narrow line of glue is needed here, don’t stray beyond the grey areas otherwise you will glue the envelope completely shut and not be able to get the card inside!

Now fold down the C flap, (the opening flap) and unfold again, the crease line is made. Ease the template out of the envelope before the glue is completely dry, in case any glue has strayed, it should not now glue the envelope together even if it has.

When the glue is dry your envelope is finished.

Once the card is inside, glue along the grey area marked on the C flap.
